The tanker “Matin Huseynov,” sailing in the Aegean Sea, witnessed a miraculous rescue of a refugee attempting to cross into another country secretly.

Azeri sailors noticed a young man, exhausted from his journey to Greece, in the depths of the sea. The young man was emaciated and in a dire state from hunger and thirst. After assessing the situation, the tanker’s captain, Seymur Bayramov, took the young man aboard with the help of his crew.

Bayramov stated, “The rescued individual was around 23-25 years old and spoke Arabic. His condition was serious; if we had been 15-20 minutes later, he might have lost his life.”
The Azerbaijani sailors immediately provided the refugee with water, food, and necessary medical assistance. Subsequently, they contacted the relevant Greek authorities and handed over the refugee to the coast guard.
The “Matin Huseynov” tanker had previously rescued 20 refugees on the verge of drowning during a voyage to Spain in 2023. The tanker’s crew, showing sensitivity to this human tragedy, demonstrated their commitment to continuing to save lives in international waters.
